Flaming Hawk With Snake in Its Talons Sparks Fire Near La Jolla
NBC Bay Area ^ | Tuesday, Jun 9, 2015 | R. Stickney

Posted on 06/09/2015 5:58:35 PM PDT by nickcarraway

The cause of an early morning fire north of San Diego was an electrocuted bird falling from an active power line

A bird carrying a snake in its talons struck power lines north of San Diego, sparking a hillside fire just west of The Merge.

San Diego Police arrived to the location on Dunhill Street near the intersection of Interstates 5 and 805 just before 6 a.m.

Flames were burning very close to businesses including the General Atomics building, officials said.

Officers called in San Diego Fire-Rescue crews who contained the fire within an hour.

Fire officials initially told NBC 7 a bird with a snake in its mouth was electrocuted on a power line and fell to the ground, sparking the fire. A photo released by officials later shows the snake in the hawk's grasp.

"A hawk that hit the high voltage power line, caught fire, and fell to the ground," SD Fire-Rescue spokesperson Lee Swanson said in a written release.

There were no structures damaged and no evacuations ordered.

This area of San Diego is home to many companies in the region's biochemical industry.

Cameras? The only one in the household at that times was locked up after I “fixed” the alarm clock.

Just as I suspected the clock had a flat coil spring like my windup car, but bigger. The attempt to soup up the car was deemed to be in violation of the class rules and I was banned from racing. Could have been another Juan Fangio but for that.

I want to go to bed, but I’m waiting for UPS to bring my pills.

UPS has gotten a little silly, lately, and I’m not happy with them. I don’t know if my favorite driver is on vacation or if he retired, so that’s another hateful thing. Of course, if I want, I can find lots of things to dislike about lots of things.

And in the meantime, (did I tell you?) my Will is finished, and what I need to do now is start on the Living Trust. Time is not standing still. :o|

"Mmmmm. Popeye’s. Pick some up for me!!!!"

I had some earlier today. Our local Popeye's runs a special every Tuesday, two pieces of chicken for $1.29

I consider it lunch for pocket change, essentially. And once a week for fried chicken is probably not excessive.

Ungh...

The UPS order from iherb.com just came...I am so disappointed. One of the bottles of my BP stuff leaked all over the packing box and there was only about half of it left. And worse news, the bottle of Carditone (BP) that I really need every month didn’t make it into the box. Naturally, I checked to find out why...I forgot to order it, even though I could have sworn I did. That was a costly mistake...$34 for one bottle, and I need it.

My brain is just not functioning properly, lately, and I don’t know why. Now I’m too upset to go to bed. *squirm and shudder*

*Hiding face in hands* [What else can go wrong this week? Not paying two bills, getting the order mixed up, not being able to wash clothes, canceling the Ortho appointment, — (I want my mother.)]

And now, because I don’t have the money to do it, my mouth REALLY wants fried chicken... *sigh*

Both KFC and Popeye’s are about an 11 mile drive.

Sigh.

I got Micky D’s and Burger King within a mile or so. Yech.

Oh and subway and Dominos.

I’ll rather go to Duncan Donuts.

I don’t do Mickey Dee’s for anything but iced chocolate mocha, and BK only has the Hershey’s Chocolate Pie to tempt me.

My preferences are...Arby’s for roast beast that isn’t too highly seasoned and Jack-In-The-Box for Sourdough Jack and the antenna balls!

Dunkin’ Donuts is too far away and I won’t do Subway because Michael Obama has tried to dictate her tastebuds there. No. Thanks.

"Dunkin’ Donuts is too far away and I won’t do Subway because Michael Obama has tried to dictate her tastebuds there."

For those of you keeping score, Michael Obama is a transgendered Mikey from the Life cereal commercial who now identifies as black.

"He won't eat it. He hates everything. ... Hey, Mikey!"
If you don't like my explanation, take it up with 'Face.

No Arby’s around the closest one which was 13 mikes away closed.

As for Jack in the Box. Their website says their closest one to ArGee and I is in NC.

That’s a very long road trip.

ArGee. Shake Shack? I hear that’s divine.

Subway is IMHO dreck.

Have you tried Firemans? Or a good hoagie from your local pizzeria?

Even WaWa makes a good hoagie. :)
