The cause of an early morning fire north of San Diego was an electrocuted bird falling from an active power line
A bird carrying a snake in its talons struck power lines north of San Diego, sparking a hillside fire just west of The Merge.
San Diego Police arrived to the location on Dunhill Street near the intersection of Interstates 5 and 805 just before 6 a.m.
Flames were burning very close to businesses including the General Atomics building, officials said.
Officers called in San Diego Fire-Rescue crews who contained the fire within an hour.
Fire officials initially told NBC 7 a bird with a snake in its mouth was electrocuted on a power line and fell to the ground, sparking the fire. A photo released by officials later shows the snake in the hawk's grasp.
"A hawk that hit the high voltage power line, caught fire, and fell to the ground," SD Fire-Rescue spokesperson Lee Swanson said in a written release.
There were no structures damaged and no evacuations ordered.
This area of San Diego is home to many companies in the region's biochemical industry.
Oh the poor duckie,
Let me know how it turns out for him.
lol
R2 with a Victorian twist......need!
Afternoon , Covenantor ,et toute.
Happy 225th Birthday, USCG!!!
Good job, Anoreth, for serving in such a great arm of America’s Might!
I saw it first!!! LOL!
Don’t you love it? I love Steam Punk...what can I say?
Soon everyone on FR will know I love Steam Punk!
I think I gained two pounds in the last week. I need more bananas and pineapple for the cocktail, but they will have to wait. Without the cocktail, I will just keep eating every couple of hours to stop the pain.
And the morphine and steroids are waiting to be picked up. But they will keep for a week, so it’s OK.
I’m thinking of driving a friend to CA on Saturday, but I’m undecided. We would use her car, but I will drive, as she is afraid of the traffic in the Big Chimichanga. I don’t have a cooler, but I sure hope she does so I can bring my own food. I will have to ask her.
I will think about it...seriously. It would get me out of the house.
Oh, no you don’t! Mine! LoL :)
Steam punk is a nostalgic return to more intelligible and comfortable times, with the advantages of penicillin .
I’m TELLIN’!
I love Steam Punk novels, because it would appear that I think in Steam Punk. Lucky me. Maybe that’s why so much of today’s teknoligys are so difficult to understand... ;o]
So you're saying that 2 legs, 2 thighs, and a half a breast is too much? Because I can go around the corner to Popyeye's and they don't seem to think it's a big deal.
Maybe I'm missing something.
Mine!
Sorry, I was just warming the glass chimneys up in the oil lamps for this evening....
Yes, Steam punk is the future, the way to go.
As long as we can has FreeRepublics they can keep the rest of the teknoligys.
The Aga needs attention , back shortly. :)
No, Dude...stick with the bucket. Popeye’s is too spicy. Besides, the Bucket Company has the BEST coleslaw! In fact, if I had any money, I’d head to the nearest one and get a side of slaw for lunch!
:o])
Wear it well!
Yepper. I agree, 100%!
But then, I’m pretty easy, today! LOL!
I want one! LOL!!!

I submitted another story to Daily Science Fiction, I hope they like it.
I have a sneaking suspicion that your short stories are going to come to the notice of people who can help you be published with a novel.
As an aside to all this, have you ever had creative writing classes? If not, you might want to consider signing up for one for a quarter or semester. Lots of stuff to learn and lots of resources to check out.
At any rate, good luck on your writing efforts! I’m really happy to read your stuff, though I think I will have to keep my Nook hooked up to WiFi so I can read all the stories you post on FR. (Why didn’t I think of that, sooner????)
Thank you.
I have decided to start trying to sell some of these short stories recently instead of just giving them all away on the blog. I still post plenty on the blog though.
This afternoon/evening, when I fire up the Nook for the relaxation “ritual,” I will see what I can do with the Nook downloading the stories you have posted the URLs for.
I do most of my reading in bed because it is what I have done since I was a very short person. And I was lucky enough to marry men who had the same habit.
I can’t imagine my life without a book in bed! LOL!
The duck left before we went out to go to Walmart. She’s probably trying to get to Lake Park, the nearest ponds, and just stopped on our lawn to rest.
