Apparently not, it was intentional. Here's a comment at the source of the article:
it's the newspaper giving props to a famous Yogi-ism from the great Yogi Berra. Yogi Berra said it a long time ago about switch hitters...."He hits from both sides of the plate; he amphibious.........So, it's like deva vu all over again.
Don't feel bad, you were taken just like the SI writer of the article..........LOL!
With that being said, it would be all the more better if it was accidental since it was a small town paper.
I love small town papers since they deal primarily with small town stuff and the people in the news are people you usually know.......
I grew up in a small town in northern Michigan and when I went into the Army in April, 1969, one of my best friends father owned the weekly town newspaper and he provided me with a free subscription to the paper for the three years I was in the service........
Misspellings in newspapers are as old as the newspaper industry itself.
