Disappointed about all the rumored AppleTV stuff getting pushed off. I was hoping for at least a 3rd-party app API even if the new hardware or subscription services aren’t ready.

Changes to OS X and iOS are fairly modest, looking more like a “Snow Leopard” kind of cycle for both of them - tightening things up and maturing them a bit instead of a laundry list of new features. (And that’s a good thing to do every few release cycles.)

I’m still waiting for the Watch to mature before I seriously consider the idea of getting one. Not being a watch-wearer normally, it has to be seriously compelling. The updates look like a move in the right direction, and of course it’s only a matter of months since the initial release so there’s not a ton of changes that should be expected.

I’m not the target audience for the music service, honestly. I’ve dabbled with a few streaming services, but never used any to the point where I think I’d get enough out of it to actually pay a subscription fee. As my kids (10, 8, and 8) get a little older, though, the family aspect of this service might actually make more sense. But not an immediate or pressing thing for me.

I’m actually intrigued by the news service, though. I really like the idea of a news aggregator and discovery service that can be customized to individual taste and preferences. I note that initial partners are the standard collection of left-wing sources, but it looks like it’s going to be easy for anyone to provide content - we need to start trying to organize the conservative/libertarian media to get active in this space, so as to not cede this ground to the liberals.

As a developer, I’m conflicted: what they did _DID_ take a lot of effort, and is laudable improvements ... yet, it all added up to, well, yawn.

Heh. Makes my case against “free open source” projects: there’s about 10% of the work which MUST be done but is not compelling in any way other than getting paid to assure completeness & progress.

The TV inclusion was only rumor and interpreted from the shape of the WWDC logo. . . I suspect it will become an announcement in its own right in the not too distant future. If they had kept it in, they keynote may have been three to four hours long.
