Interesting. The 500-1000 year storm / event is something that is likely not economically feasible.

Any idea as to why certain words have been blacked out?I suspect nothing is blacked out. The text has justified margins so they just left extra spaces to push words out to the right.

In 1692, Gerald Killian, the sign maker did not have a typewriter capable of proportional fonts.

I'd be surprised if there isn't more about this in the FRchives, but I didn't feel like looking.

Myself, I *do* think there have been words erased: not formatting. I suspect whomever did it simply did not approve of some form of honorable salutation like “captain” for a blackhearted, murdering, raping outlaw.

Is that water I see on the road? It was early in the morning:
"That's how conditions are
The rain may never fall till after sundown
By eight, the morning fog must disappear
In short, that's simply why
all of us are so loyal
Who live here in ... Port Royal."
[From Richard Burton's original song, Ode to Port Royal, later stolen and adapted to Broadway's Camelot]
