I completely understand the difference. My commentary in this thread shows that.

The TPA gave Obama the authority to commit us to the TPP as shown or even allows Obama to amend it as he sees fit.

The TPA that Cruz vote for removes the 66 votes needed for a treaty authorization or the 60 votes needed for cloture. It now only requires a simple 50 votes in the Senate!!!! Read it. That is what Cruz voted for. Cruz gave a power to Obama that most Presidents have never had.

Also, Cruz’s vote condones this secrecy over the TPP. He should have argued against it and condemned Obama’s secrecy.

If he wanted to be a real leader and show that he believes in his convictions he should release the details of the TPP that Obama is unconstitutionally keeping secret. That would impress me. Cruz has read it and the special room they are hiding it in.

I am not saying Cruz us evil. I am saying I don’t trust him and I have good reason not to.

We already have a guy that gives good speeches and interviews well. He is now in his 7th year of destroying this nation.

That was good post CCG. As one whom was once all in for Ted Cruz with support and money, this damn Fast Track Authority, (funny how those just poo-pooing the TPP kinda just, ahem, ‘forget’ just what the Fast Track Authority’ really is and what it means), and TPP support of his is beyond upsetting. I feel like the punch in the gut deal. The complete betrayal feeling. Ted Cruz would NEVER side with the muslim Obama, never! But he has. And folks are working O.T. spinning his support for Barry as something else. Besides what is involved with this bogus and horrible for the United states ‘trade’ (It is FAR more than just ‘trade’), thing the bottom line again is this: Barry Soetoro is 100% committed to the destruction of The United states of America. We all KNOW that. He, VJ and their Globalist NWO puppet masters, are pushing harder, if not harder than obamacare, than any other thing he/they has pushed before to get this America destroying TPP thru. They damn well know what this will mean for America’s future. Kiss our sovereignty goodbye. United Nations and their gun control schemes? You ain’t seen nothing yet. Climate Control? We will get both barrels from these commies if the TPP gets thru. As more and more wiki leaks get out on the TPP the more folks will get schooled on just what this thing is. Now, why are our own folks supporting Barry on this ‘trade’ thing? He wants it BADLY! If Barry wants it badly, it CAN’T BE GOOD FOR AMERICA!!! How much more simple can it get than that? Why is he getting Conservatives support? Secret? Why? Why is it secret and even those that do get to read it can’t take notes of it’s contents and must obey other guidelines and requirements while even in the room with the treaty’s info/contents? Barry wants this TPP and Fast Track authority.....AND Ted wants this TPP and Fast Track Authority. Good Lord help us.

Thank you. This has all been so Damm confusing to me. I just don't know what to think.

Right now, though, I'm not ready to abandon Ted Cruz simply because the alternatives for the most part fall short. Scott Walker perhaps, but I need some definitive explanations on his immigration position. The others don't come anywhere close to my ideals and values.

As a friend advised me, don't look for the perfect candidate because he/she doesn't exist. We have to decide whether the flaws of any candidate are something we can live with.

I wish Ted Cruz would explain his vote and clarify his position. The longer he does not, the more suspicions grow. Honestly, I'm not in favor of ANY trade agreement because more recent agreements have not favored the US at all. In this case, we can not only not trust our trade partners, we also can't trust our own president. And we can't view the proposed agreement? What kind of nonsense is that?

Maybe there is some brilliant strategy in the mind of Ted Cruz afoot here. I just hope it isn't a matter of him going over to the dark side.

“The TPA gave Obama the authority to commit us to the TPP as shown or even allows Obama to amend it as he sees fit.”

No, you are wrong. The TPP has not even come for a vote at any level, in any committee. Only the TPA has, and that gives 0bama no authority to do anything with the TPP. Should the House pass the TPA, then, and only then, will the TPA be effective.

The TPA does not allow a treaty to pass. That still takes 2/3 of the Senate. All the subsequent bills which utilize the TPA will be required to be available publicly for months before a pure “up or down” vote occurs. That “up or down vote” will need only 51 votes, but it will not be a treaty, but instead a simple agreement.
