To: Army Air Corps

There is nothing like the feeling od several hundred horsepower slamming you in the back as 3 FEET of wheel travel crab, lose and grab traction for a few hundred miles.

I have raced snowmobiles in my youth and dragged cars later. But the experience of racing off road is like nothing else. Either driving or riding shotgun in a high level truck or buggy (done both), it is an incredible experience. Most of the time you are relying on ‘the force’ because control on dirt at over 100 MPH through couple foot deep ruts is an illusion.

I recall reading PJ O’Rourke’s article on riding shotgun on the Baja 1000. He detailed the exhilaration of the drive as well as the frustration of having to repair a drive shaft in the middle of the night.
