I am planning to fly into LAX this August with my daughter (7) and son (9) while Mom stays home with the other two. We are mainly going to spend an afternoon with my dad on the Iowa at his Navy reunion, but will have a day, day-and-a-half to do other things.
I would definitely like to go to a beach as the kids have never seen the ocean. Some other attraction or park would be nice too.
I've never been to the L.A. area before and am not entirely sure what to expect. Could use some advice! Thanks.
Good info here - - -
I agree - Disneyland and Universal.
But they want beaches.
Keep children in sight at all times.
If kids drop anything stay close and look out for pedophiles.
Give change to the homeless.
Get rolls of quarters for the parking meters.
Lie and get free Obamaphones for your whole family like the rest do.
Claim you are illegal so you can register to vote, get food stamps, free lodging and if you are a minority you can get a case worker to tell you it is all whitey’s fault.
You should be able to have your meals free at schools as well through summer and get a few welfare cards for the casinos.
‘Neptune’s Net’ is a place to go/eat, for sure.
We also have a daughter in Ventura, and yes, I forgot about their beaches!
And we’re right nearby in Camarillo!
Oh, Laguna - my son-in-law from Huntington Beach would definitely recommend Laguna.
The Getty Villa on Pacific Coast Hiway is great. Hard to find the entrance - imagine out-of-towners looking for it! Have to know some landmarks right before.
However, one needs reservations - not much parking - and not a whole lot for kids. Ok - there is some kid’s stuff. Great food.
Come to think of it, they would probably like it, (The Mummy!) but not if this is their only trip to L.A.
We have a ‘Habit’ here in Camarillo. We eat them from time to time. Must always try at least once!
It's a beautiful place. I remember the view of the valley at sunset from watching Reagan's funeral on television. It was awesome to be there and see it in person.
