IMO we didn’t “overreact” any where near enough
The 9/11 outrage lasted a couple of weeks, the time it took to replace flying the American flag with yellow ribbons and suppressing pictures of the “jumpers.”
You knew the direction things were taking when “outrage” began being replaced with “tragedy.” The humiliation Americans go through now at domestic airports rather than the profiling done successfully by Israeli airlines mirrors our problem. Once the initial shock passes, political correctness takes over and freedom ratchets down to the next level.

And of course, she is the author of What Terrorists Want, where she claims that just about every attempt to stop terrorism is an “overreaction” all the way back to Ireland’s communistic Easter Rising in 1916.
