There is also another group, Bikers Against Child Abuse or BACA, that helps out kids who have been abused. They ride tothe kid’s house, give them a denim vest with a BACA patch and a new “biker name”, and tell the kids that they are not alone and don’t have to be afraid.
The BACA bikers then stay connected to the child and the family, and will-by their physical presence, if necessary, keep the child’s attacker away from the child. The BACA bikers will also go to court with the child in case they need to testify against the perp as moral support. They encourage the child to focus on them, not the attacker, so they can tell the truth.
I think they’re a cool bunch of people.

Sigh, when I was about 9 years old, I was best buddies with a kid who I now know was a little bully. And one day I stood there and did nothing while he tormented a retarded kid.
And I still remember it to this day and I still feel like crap! Fifty years later! I wish there was some way to teach kids a little of what it takes years to learn....sigh

Good on the bikers! . . . But why was a five-year-old mentally disabled girl walking home from school alone?

Why not ride to the abusers’ houses? Just sit out front and rev their engines for awhile.

We had a bike gang in our (very rural) area where I grew up. They are sorta like lawyers... they are great to have around as long as they are on your side. I worked at a gas station when I was in high school pumping gas and a lot of them would trickle in and out each day and i got to know a few of them. They invited me to a party once in a while... always with a few kegs and roasting a hog. They were like a bunch of brothers. They would get drunk and fight and then be telling BS stories to each other 1/2 hour later. Overall, they were good to family, but you didn't want to cross them.
I do remember once they went to a local farmer and offered to buy a hog for some price they had determined was fair... but way less than the hog was worth. The farmer declined and they told him he could sell it or they would steal it. He took the money. So not really the sort of guys you would be proud to hang around with.
