Well if Fantastic Four Human Torch can be black and Nick Fury can be black, but do not mention Mickey Rooney's role in Breakfast at Tiffany's

I haven't Heard, If the Human Torch is going to be Black.

But Sue Storm (his SISTER) Is still white right?

So in the new movie are they not Brother and Sister anymore?

It's definitely a BIG stretch.

This actress was more convincing as having part Hawaiian heritage...

she portrays Allison Ng: an aggressively peppy Air Force fighter pilot of Chinese-Hawaiian-Swedish

I like Emma Stone but if this is the role, casting her was silly.

And isn't Ng a Vietnamese name?

I’ve heard that in the remake of “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner,” the character portrayed by Sidney Poitier will be played by Rosie O’Donnell. /sarc

Cedric the Entertainer as Ralph Kramden.

Last year’s Annie.

Hollywood thinks the audience will believe/accept anything they put out.

Too many do.

About as convincing as Marlon Brando as an Asian.

Nobody complained when Peter Sellers played the roll of Dr. Fu Manchu!

Ugh. A waste of two hours plus the time getting there and back and the tickets

Incoherent.

No distinguishable theme

No story line

Ridiculous characters

I have no problem with her or the idea of imperfect races in acting situations.

I have a good friend that is 1/2 Vietnamese, 1/2 Scandinavian.

His name is Swedish, his body is larger than most Asians, but his face is very Asian.

None of us friends pays any mind, day to day. Great fellow, married a sharp, very conservative, beautiful younger gal.

It’s to balance out Lucy Liu playing Dr. Watson in Elementary.

Adoption... I know an ethnic Korean with a Norwegian surname.

I have a cousin by marriage, that is 1/2 American Hispanic, and 1/2 Filipino.

His father (Hispanic) was career Air Force, and married a Filipino woman, who has very Asian appearance.

Some of their children have very Asian appearances, some not at all.

Great people, conservative, patriotic, devoutly religious.

Well, if whatsername can lever her Indian Heritage into academic and political success then why not Emma Stone? She looks more oriental than, say, Pearl Bailey.

A Nigerian can marry a Norwegian and have a dozen kids.

They can vary from looking very much like Dad to very much like mom, though most will be somewhere in between.

So she's adopted. Big deal.

Just be glad they didn't go with the alternative, which would be Olivia Munn.

Casting Emma Stone (never heard of her) as an Asian-American is an example of lazy casting - not of racism.

Anyone who is offended is simply choosing to be offended. After all, if some, e.g., Peruvian production company launched a production of "Abraham Lincoln - Rail-Splitter" with an all-Peruvian cast, I would assume that this was done for reasons of expediency - like because pale-skinned, North European-looking actors were hard to find, or because they assumed that their (Peruvian) audience could better identify with actors who looked like them. So what?

In the case at hand, I suspect rather than some geniuses in marketing had exactly plotted the demographics of their target audience, and based their casting decisions on that. That may be manipulative, mercenary, and unartistic - but how is it "racist?"

Regards,
