Frank is just like you. Just like me. Only bigger. George Schlatter, a friend
Lets get one thing straight. There cant be another Frank. These days, you dont operate on that plane and get away with it. Was he in the Mob? Was he an informer? Did he ruin Ava Gardner, sleep with Marilyn, throw a plate against a restaurant wall just because they cooked the pasta too long? Come on, al dente!
Act like that today and youd be TMZd faster than you can tweet Alec Baldwin. But thats just behavior. Flip on your TV and youll understand the other reason nobody can match Sinatra. In this age of the media megatropolis, of over-saturated, over-exposed, over-everything, competition is just too fierce for one figure to so dominate the spotlight. If Milton Berle were starting out now, he wouldnt get a 30-year deal from NBC. Hed be cross-dressing on Comedy Central to beat out Guy Fieri on a Wednesday night.
With Franks 100th birthday approaching, along with an NSO Pops concert devoted to his music, Ive been talking Sinatra over the past week

Yes.
Range? What, you mean like Mariah Carey?
Give me a break.
I was there on May 30, 1983 to witness it firsthand.
That too.
Range is overrated.

Amen brother! I’m tired of these clowns who go through their trills and artificial modulations. They bend notes because they can’t hold a note. Some of Streisand’s stuff is absolutely insufferable.
Here’s a note bender. This is what passes for talent these days:

Frankie was said to have avoided WWll and his popularity after the war was over hit the skids and he was sarcastically called Frank Notsohotra! But he got back in the limelight after the success of the movie From Here to Eternity in the early 50s. Whether the mob kept him out the war and it has been denied I wouldn’t know but it was referred to as well in the movie The Godfathers. But inspite of all of this Sinatra was a very talented entertainer.
Makes me sick....I hate these modern warblers and caterwaulers...these “divas”.
This thread should have been about why Dean Martin is the greatest!!
Absolutely correct.
