A heart attack is the more likely cause. Although rare, a ball strike in the chest can trigger a heart attack if it occurs near the heart and at a vulnerable moment in the heart’s cycle of circulation.

The poor kid is actually from Iowa (was staying with his Grandparents up in MN to play with his former team for the Summer as he just moved here last Fall). A couple of the local news stories mention a neurologist and aneurysm;
he did make it to the hospital and died later...make of that what you will.

Not too many details at the moment other than a little bit of info his Mom gave to the Des Moines Register.

Freak accident; so sad...sounded like a talented youngster.
