Allow a million or so legal immigrants per year, and another million or so illegal immigrants, and over a couple of decades the demographic shifts are undeniable.
They will never allow the citizenry to influence immigration policy. They will never even allow the citizens to know what the true policy is.
The notion that immigration policy should serve - first foremost and only - the interests of citizens, would be laughable in the eyes of establishment politicians and bureaucrats.
But immigration policy in fact should serve the interests of citizens. The kinds of immigrants sought or allowed, the countries of origins, the numbers per year allowed to enter and take up residence among us.
