Hi Utilizer!
Actually, we already had a thread posted about this kid's blog over the weekend: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3290202/posts
The kid only was evaluating graphics rendering speed, and at the end of his updated comments from 5/15 he stated:
"...Overall, UI speed is only one metric of speed, and articles claiming that I found Windows 10 to be faster than OS X are missing the point..."
What I commented on that earlier thread can be summarized as:
- BootCamp (the Apple dual-boot system) has been around since 2006 specifically for running Windows on Mac hardware. It's no surprise.
- At any given price point, Mac computers have been the fastest way to run Windows, for years. Articles like "The fastest Windows computer is a Mac" have been around for years. It's no surprise or big deal any more.
- The differences in speed that Alex reported were impressions of graphics rendering stability. They may be possible to substantiate with real test data, in which case his results would become useful as opposed to subjective opinions. That would be good.
- As he himself said, all he was observing was graphic rendering stability, not overall operating system speed.
So I declined to post to the Windows Ping List at that time with subjective observations on some kid's blog. Lots of kids have blogs.
But if Alex, or someone else, comes out with an article reporting test results that use a standardized, widely respected benchmarking utility suite, and can publish some reproducible results comparing the speed of Windows vs. OS X on the Mac, I'll be VERY interested in pinging the list about that.
Otherwise, we're just asking for yet another tomato-throwing and name-calling contest, and we don't need that. :-)

Oh, and BTW, just so you understand I'm not criticizing Alex from a standpoint of ignorance:
I have three different Mac computers (a new Mini, and old Mini, and an old MacBook) that ALL are BootCamped and running Windows 7 in the second partition.
They bloody SCREAM running Windows 7. I love 'em.
I also like running them with OS X. It happens I'm posting this comment from the new Mini, under OS X 10.9. It moves right along, too.
Happy happy, joy joy. :-)
