I'm not a football fan of his (go Canes!); however, this is the best commencement address I've seen. Coach Holtz is both funny and sincere. My screen even went a little blurry the last minute of his speech!

He made the commencement speech at my daughter’s HS graduation back in ‘91. Best speech I ever heard. Great guy!

I remember Holtz from his days at the University of Arkansas. He really is a gifted speaker and a decent man.

“I’m indeed humbled.”

That always sounds so phoney.

It sounds like Moses describing himself as “meek”.

“How meek am I? I’m the meekest! I’m so meek no other prophet can lay a glove on me in the meek department. I’m the King of Meek. Word.”
Moses the Meek. And Humble.

I think the speech was excellent in all ways. He told the kids what they needed to hear and kept them listening. A video of that speech shown to every graduating class would be a vast improvement of what our kids are getting now. And it would do the world a lot more good than another billion dollar social experiment/program.

I’ve always liked Lou (well, the Mark May thing makes it easy for a PSU fan), but I admire him for his faith and his ability to share it - even in these crazy times.

Plus he’s a member at Augusta. I like that as well.
