Strictly my own opinion, but after his complaining like that and then doing something like this, it IS kind of hard to ignore... what will actually politically happen is anyone’s guess, we know how the people eat up the liberal news sound bites. The technology isn’t even close to being able to handle it by the end of this year. The USSR was not able to dictate a market, and the Congress can’t dictate the existence of a technology.
Yeah, I've been wondering how this will affect the railroads' efforts to get an extension. Even the roads who have been working diligently on this can't make end of the year, and I hate to think how far off certain other roads are right now. It's good technology and absolutely needs to be in place but you can't just say by government fiat, have this done by the end of the year when the infrastructure isn't there.
