There is a melon I had in China called Durian that smells like rotty old socks (and has been known to clear a room) but was delicious !

Not on the list, but if you’ve never had one you should try green persimmons.

I could not get to the last ones but I have had passion fruit. I thought it was yucky but my family loved it. I have not eaten mangosteen but have had the juice. It was ok

Some of these may be delicious but t me a big part of eating is what the food looks like.

The only ones I have not eaten are:
Mammee Apple

Pineberries
Breast Milk Fruit
Noni Fruit
Mangosteen

I sold the Mangosteen but never tried it.

I’ve had purple sweet potato, but it in a cake made by a co-worker from the Philippines. It was a really cool color and tasted great.

I’ve had jackfruit and it was a little “musty” tasting to my palate.

The durian I couldn’t even get near because of the way it smelled. Like a sweaty gym that hadn’t been cleaned EVER.

Dragon fruit is a bit too bland for me.

Sweetsop is really good and has a consistency like custard. It tastes kind of like pineapple.

Dragon fruit is excellent.

We were in Thailand last year and a fresh fruit bowel brought to our room every evening. Everything else I knew, but Dragon fruit was a real treat.

I've tried the Asian ones. Rambutan looks scary, but tastes great. Star fruit, jackfruit and dragonfruit are also really good. Durian smells pretty bad, but it tastes OK. Definitely an acquired taste that I've never really acquired - though my Singaporean wife loves it.

The only one of these you can really find quality versions of in the US is jackfruit - grown in Mexico. The others can only be found canned, frozen, or just plain withered.

I’ve had ramutan that was canned in syrup. Eaten pummelo many times. Drankangosteen juice.

Mangosteen juice is excellent.
Ramutan is okay.
Pummelo I prefer to grapefruit. Has a very floral taste.

Mangosteens, when fresh, are sweet and citrusy ... “bright”, if that makes any sense as a flavor.

Purple sweet potato and passion fruit. I do not remember how the purple sweet potato tasted other than it was fine. Passion fruit is absolutely delicious. How do you describe a taste?

Saw #1, the Horned Melon, at Sprouts the other day. My oldest and I were wondering about it, so I pulled up this link/description on my phone so we could find out about it:

http://communitytable.com/64398/linzlowe/what-the-heck-is-a-kiwano-melon-and-how-do-you-eat-it/

The kiwano may look like a fruit from outer space (and in fact, it featured in an episode of Star Trek), but it’s a very popular snack in Africa, Australia, New Zealand, and parts of the U.S.

This peculiar fruit is also known as the horned melon, jelly melon, African horned cucumber, hedged gourd, melano, and blowfish fruit.

Kiwano connoisseurs describe the flavor of the slimy green interior as a cross between cucumber, zucchini, and kiwifruit (though as it ripens, it tastes more like a banana).

A fully ripened kiwano has an orange rind with prominent spikes. To eat plain, cut the fruit in half, as shown above. Gently squeeze one half until the slime-covered seeds ooze out. The seeds aren’t harmful to eat, but many people prefer to hold the seeds between their teeth and suck off the green flesh.

If that doesn’t sound appealing, you can also simply scoop out the inner fruit and toss it in fruit salads or use as a colorful garnish.

Kiwano melons are also excellent in exotic drinks. Check out this yummy recipe for a minty gin-and-champagne kiwano cocktail!

I have never seen, heard of or eaten any of the fruits shown except the Spanish lime.

I enjoy watching Andrew Zimmern on Bizzare Foods regularly but he gets paid good money to travel and eat those odd things. I think I'll just stick with the conventional apples, pears, peaches, grapefruits, oranges, grapes, strawberries, blueberries and blackberries from our own property.
