Well, he certainly isn’t tepid. He’s taking all the stances we want him to, and doing so very unapologetically - exactly what we need.
Only concern now is ensuring the Democrats run Hillary or Kerry, or someone equally tepid with at least as many skeletons in their closet.

but the party selects who they will get behind and support

The party itself doesn't have any votes. Only people have the votes, and votes are required to elect the candidates.

Because I have an agenda, and know who I want to vote for, I'm volunteering and voting and sending real money to the Cruz campaign.

Votes of people that have votes matter more than what the 'party' wants.

I don’t think it necessarily means Cruz is trying to win California. The guy was the head of the GOP in a huge state so I guess he knows how to campaign. (Well - except I’m not sure how many Republicans actually get elected in California!)

The guy sounds like he has views similar to Cruz as well - its always nice to have folks on the same page. (Not like the McCain/Palin debacle).

What we now know is that we have the late Steve Jobs, Sergey Brin and Larry Page and Mark Zuckerberg for literally being the economic backstop that prevented California's economy from completely cratering. The phenomenal success of Apple, Facebook and Google from 2007 to now meant any company associated with these three companies did fairly well--and why the price of real estate in the San Francisco Bay Area never collapsed like it did in much of the rest of California.

“No, but the party selects who they will get behind and support, which is why the field was cleared for Sharron Runner to become the State Senator, even though other people were interested. I like Sharron, she’s good people. But I also like the idea of open competition.”

Party support is different and that happens in every state, every county. The Republican National Committee, housed in Washington, also picks their presidential favorite and helps that person more than others. LIKE JEB BUSH. I don’t see the National Party giving Cruz one nickel.

You say, “open competition” and it is, anyone can run, but there is no way every candidate would get the same support everywhere. There will always be favorites just as there is on this forum. At this time, on this forum, Cruz is the favorite. You won’t see much support for Jeb Bush or any of the others at this time.
