I am sure there’s more to this story than what the cyclist says.

Given the town, and how cyclists are there.

Maybe the motorist was one of the countless who where harassed during the “Critical Mass” protests some years ago - and an e. e. cummings fan...

I looked at the video. It is dark and murky. Some data might be gained by going through it carefully, frame by frame, but it is only at the end of the event, in any case.

There is no justification for a car attempting to run down a cyclist that has not committed a crime.

Some car drives just do not like cyclists.

Driving a car is not a license to murder or commit assault.

I’ve seen enough videos, from bicyclists, who were just riding and had to deal with overtly aggressive drivers who either were trying to knock them off their bikes or drove in a manner where accident could happen.

It doesn’t surprise me.

No, no need for much of a backstory. Once, leaving a post office in the Bay Area (Alameda, actually) another driver, irate over something, managed to catch up to me by driving against traffic, pulled in front of me and stopped. Then he intentionally backed up into me. I had a little room behind me so I backed up as far as I could with the intention of pulling out. But the jerk backed up again until he hit me. Now I was wedged in.

Then he got out of his car and came back to my window, which I rolled down to find out what was eating him, but he never gave me the chance: he just spit in my face. My children, who were in the car with me were appalled. I was shocked.

Then the guy turned away, got back in his car and sped away.

Irrational road rage, I’d guess. I had never seen the guy before, don’t to this day know what his problem was, I never cut him off or did anything that could have gotten him so enraged. Just more San Francisco Bay Area crap.

“Given the town, and how cyclists are there.”

And most everywhere.

Bicyclists are the most obnoxious, entitled, self-centered people on the road, nothing but packs of spandex-wearing, butt in the air, road-hogging, lane-grabbers that clog roads and dare anyone to pass them.
