I was driving on a dirt road in Western Kansas around 1985. I happened to see a magnificent whitetail buck standing on a small bridge. I could see him and his rack perfectly.
A split second later, the deer turned into a person standing in the exact same spot.
How I could ever have made that error still escapes me. I was not even thinking of hunting or deer.
We don’t see with our eyes, we see with our brain. I’ve had similar experiences, especially immediately after waking up, since I have what they call night terrors.
