Former LSU offensive lineman La'el Collins paused to keep control of his emotions at a news conference to announce his signing with the Dallas Cowboys as an undrafted free agent.

Dallas owner and general manager Jerry Jones had an even harder time holding back tears while sitting next to a projected first-round pick who didn't get selected because his name surfaced in the investigation of the shooting death of a pregnant woman he knew in his hometown of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

The Cowboys have three first round talent players with Gregory dropping out of the 1st round and now Collins. Their offensive line which was top notch is even going to be nastier with Collins.

If he is indicted, he will be even cheaper. For this young man’s sake, I pray he isn’t guilty of the crime.

Jones, who I have mixed feelings on, has gone from one of the most maligned GMs to having done a masterful job the past three years. He is willing to take some gambles, but a good gamblers win. He’s built the best offensive line and just made it better. He’s got at least 2-3 years of romo, dez and witten and some other tools behind that young line. He’s also landed a great defensive coordinator and is restocking the defense. This coming 12 months after Jones was (rightfully) seen as creating a cap heavy disaster where they were cutting or losing top talent one after another for poor salary cap management. I guess they were making some smarter decisions that I or anyone thought.

A virtual Rogue’s Gallery, with most likely the child beater to join them soon, as well.

Romo already sealed their fate claiming a Super Bowl win, they will stink.

What’s the point of having the best offensive line in the league when given 6 seconds of no pressure your quarterback still throws an interception when the game is on the line?

I was wrong about Romo, he showed me a lot last year, and I’ve come around to thinking he is pretty darn good. He had a great season last year, despite the injuries.

I love football and have watched the draft for years. And I cannot remember a single year where more draft picks were described as having “issues” - character, drug, criminal, what have you.

He probably loses sight of the field in front of him when he is rushed.

I think it has more to do with the fact that in this day of social media, it’s much harder to keep those issues under wraps.

Seriously? Do you even have a freaking CLUE about what happened with this guy or who he is? Try educating yourself a bit. Go to this link and watch the video of his press conference yesterday.

I was a Cowboy fan for 46 years. The day I moved to Texas from New Jersey I became a Giants fan. Too much Cowboy merchandise all over the place.

Not saying Romo is bad. Just saying that he cannot win the big one and that’s what the Cowboys lack. When you have that much time to throw the ball, it has to go to a receiver and not to the other team.

Yes, you are.

JimRob, I don’t think you want this kind of talk (“Another thug for Massah Jones plantation!”) that Dr. Ursus posted here on FR, especially when it is completely uncalled for. Uninformed, ignorant and bigoted comments like that make us all look bad. Mr. Collins did nothing to warrant the use of such a slur. Racist material and bigotry are specifically called out in the posting rules as being off-limits. This is not a suggestion that the use of the word “thug” is racist - that’s not my point. But, by suggesting that La’el Collins is a “thug” who lives on a “plantation” and has a “Massah” - the clear intent was racist bigotry and nothing more.
