An NHS doctor enslaved a man in his home for 24 years after smuggling him into Britain as a child, a court heard yesterday.

Emmanuel Edet demanded to be called ‘master’ as he beat his victim and subjected him to a ‘life of misery’, it was claimed.

Edet, 60, and his wife Antan, 58, a senior hospital nurse, are accused of stripping Ofonime Inuk of his passport and making him work up to 17 hours a day.

Everytime this type of story comes up it's Arabs or other Africans who are the slaveholders. Somehow that does not fit the liberal narrative.

When you post things that don’t fit the narratives, the Jihadis win.

Muslims have slaves in Europe all over the place. Many were kidnapped and put into a life of slavery. They’re traded and sold just as they were centuries ago. Why don’t they do a story on that? We know why...

He wasn’t a very good master. I’m always kind, but firm, to my slaves and when they reach old age I sell them off to avoid the expenses attendant upon declining productivity and sickness.

Occasionally I have seen stories about wealthy Chinese holding slaves.

True. In Europe it tends to be Arabs, Africans, and the occasional Russian oligarch. In the US, the Chinese may own the slave market.

I’ve even heard of some Indians in the US. Many wealthy in India have no problem taking advantage of the poor.

In a sane and honest world, and in an American society in which we could openly and honestly discuss truth, it would be acknowledged that not all cultures are equally advanced with regards human rights, not all cultures value the sanctity and sacred nature of each individual life, and that generally the average American is far ahead of the curve in this regard (not to say we don’t have a long way to go). We have slavery in our history, but there are, regrettably, world cultures that still have it in their present.

Slavery is pretty common in Haiti and among Haitians in the United States.

I’m starting to get the feeling WASPs are seriously under-represented in this scenario. Yet that’s where all the day-to-day blame in the media tends to go when the topic of slavery comes up.

Hmmm, very strange. Now why would that be?

Because they believe that slavery of 175 years ago by whites is worse than slavery today by people of color.

Yep. They conveniently forget that whites didn’t enslave the blacks in Africa. They bought them from black slavers.
