For an army of women, Mr Right is simply not there, no matter how hard they look for him. And the reason? When it comes to marriage, men are on strike.
Why? Because the rewards are far less than they used to be, while the cost and dangers it presents are far greater.
Ultimately, men know theres a good chance theyll lose their friends, their respect, their space, their sex life, their money and if it all goes wrong their family, says Dr Helen Smith, author of Why Men Are Boycotting Marriage, Fatherhood And The American Dream.
They dont want to enter into a legal contract with someone who could effectively take half their savings, pension and property when the honeymoon period is over.
Men arent wimping out by staying unmarried or being commitment phobes. Theyre being smart.

Why? The root cause is a great falling away from religious faith with marriage because those who live in fornication do not believe the law applies to them.

"Men who think all money coming into a marriage belongs to him alone should never get married."
This is an interesting thread. I just have one question for you. Assuming that you are conservative, how is it a conservative position to state that the money a man has earned before being married is somehow now yours to do with as you want? During the marriage, that argument is certanily viable as you share everything. But if you get a divorce, how is the woman entitled to income and property earned by the man before they married? You are entitled to child support for raising your kids, but beyond that how is it a conservative position to say you are entitled to anything else?

Thanks, Boogieman... and if that’s ladyjane’s intent, she should understand shaming tactics don’t work on me.

How is it conservative to deny the aspect of sharing during marriage, or of practically ASSUMING you will get divorced so even worry about selfish things?
If you assume you could divorce, you have chosen stupidly.

I was lucky enough to marry one of the good ones back in 1991.The available pool of worthwhile women was drying up back then, trust me on this.I dated enough losers before I found Beckie. The situation now for a decent guy trying to find a life partner is scary at best.

I have been currently married almost 30 years so I think it's safe to say I did not go into it assuming I would be divorced. Nice try avoiding the actual question though. Again, my question is how is it a conservative position to take something that is not yours and you never earned (i.e. the material wealth of your spouse before you were married)?

Kindly explain in detail how feminism achieved this goal. It helped me realize that my whole adult existence is not dependent on being Mrs. Someone-or-other.

“Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free?”
A guy with that attitude isn’t really ready for marriage anyway.

Excuse me?
You have blinders on. Your comment as well as others are quite sexist as well as presumptive, downright mean. I’ve seen it too much. The claws come out, without even any direct female provocation.
And yes, sexism DOES exist. Maybe not in femiNAZI version, but men do belittle women as a matter of course, never mind when something like this comes up.
It’s amazing men want women so much, if they spend so much time disparaging them.

I can affirm that. When I’ve asked women why they go for and stay with abusive assholes, I get the same response. “He’s so exciting!”

Back in 1965, the Hippie Movement declared marriage DEAD! If you loved someone that was all that was needed, after all, a marriage license was only a piece of paper.
Today, marriage is the most important thing two people can engage in, but ONLY if you are GAY!

Yes, there are fools -mostly fueled by our totally immoral culture.
But even now, not all women are that way. Come on. And just how many women with abusive guys (BTW, why don’t THEY get some flack?) do you know? I doubt there are that many abusive men.

Yet ‘salivate want’ and ‘want to be shackled for life’ are two very different things.

Nah, it wasn’t simply they didn’t need paper to love someone.
They didn’t need paper to (”&?(:$$”\|~(!;/ someone. THAT is what they liked.
Before BC, you can’t tell me people were screwing as much as today’s movies make it out to be as loose as today.

I don’t want a man who salivates over slutty trash low-class women, including just because they dressed that way (their choice).
I’d agree, but you can’t have it both ways. Marrying the steady girl while lusting after the sluts.
Hopefully, most men properly raised are not like that.
