A report commissioned by the NFL has found that there was "no deliberate attempt" by the New England Patriots to deflate game balls to gain an advantage over the Indianapolis Colts in the AFC Champsionship gamebut that a Patriots locker room attendant and equipment assistant "participated in a deliberate effort to release air from Patriots game balls after the balls were examined by the referee." The report by Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP also said "it is more probable than not that Tom Brady...was at least generally aware of the inappropriate activities." Brady denied knowing anything about deflated balls.
Apples and chickens. The commissioner of a sports league has one job: grow the league. And Goodell with all his faults has done that. He took care of the discipline problem he inherited, while there were some missteps in the abuse thing last year he landed the league in a good spot (first sports league to actually have it against the rules) and handled the late game well (people think having the courts reinstate Rice was a slap at him, I see total deniability, nobody can say re reinstated Rice too soon since he didn’t reinstate Rice at all). They’ve got labor piece with long term CBAs for the players and the refs, refs can be gotten rid of easier now than ever. Long term massive TV contracts. Even his “loss” of disciplinary power in the end just gives him coverage, now if there’s a weak suspension he’s got people he can fire.
In a results oriented business his results are great. Sure a large group of people think he sucks and complain about him vociferously... while they buy NFL merch.
The fact that Brady wouldn't give up HIS end of the texts, even if screened by his lawyers, closes the deal for me.
And the fact that the Colts brought this up to the NFL pregame shows a history of the PATS DOING this
What's even more hilarious is that the Colts knew about it all before the game, but apparently the Pats somehow claim to be in the dark ... see Theres a glaring contradiction in NFLs Deflategate timeline!
