A Utah man is suing the local police force after one of its dogs attacked him during an arrest, after he had put his hands up and surrendered.
Martin Lee Hoogveldt, 33, had already given himself up after armed police entered his home in response to a disturbing-the-peace complaint in 2013, but the dog still jumped at him,clamping its jaws around his face.
The dog handler's body camera captured the horrific attack, and can be seen struggling to get the dog, a German shepherd called Pyro, to let go of Hoogveldt's face.

The video was just released by the police to the public 2 days ago.
There is a lawsuit agist the police, the city and I believe the officer too.
Plus the guy is not dead.
Police are humans and they are going to make mistakes. The worst thing a police department is NOT police theirselves., cover up, make excuses and do everything to justify breaking the law. It sends a terrible message to the public. That seems to be the status quo.
Many people, certainly minorities, believe that if the police are corrupt and not following the laws, then why should they? What you are witnessing is a society slowly descending into chaos. Do cops really wants to live in a chaos society that looks like a third world $hit hole instead of the good old USA.
The fix is easy. The police needs to police theirselves because they are not do unit now. The police need to get away from the military training. The military is there to break and destroy things in a war zone. America is not a war zone.
I would even add that police should be required to live in the cummities they police. That way it will be home to them. They can get to know the community, build the trust among friends, neighbors and local leadership.

There has been a rash of brutality against the police. There is a war on police.

Instead of treating everyday citizens as enemy combatants, they should go after the thugs.

If he had shot the dog the police would have killed him deader than last months ham sandwich, just the fact that he had a weapon in his hand would have been all they needed to shoot him dead.
Thugs can and do fight back. Old men can’t.
Most cops I know are vets and are good men.
I din’t imply that he was even capable of shooting the dog.
The dog handler was originally trained to shoot the dog if it became uncontrollable.
