(WOOD) An earthquake rattled West Michigan and other parts of the Midwest.
The shaking happened around 12:20 p.m.
It was felt around the Michigan.
The USGS registered it as a 4.0 earthquake centered near Galesburg.
Ive lived in Northern California since 1971..and even the small earthquake dont go unoticed, at least by me....
Fracking? I sleep thru anything below a 5.5. :-)
We had a mild tremor in western PA many years ago. I remember the TV news lady interviewing a guy who had been watching the Steelers. His set was on a stand with wheels and when the tremor hit, the TV and the stand slid across the floor and tipped over. The owner said he had had a few beers and thought he was seeing things.
But while people only a few miles away might feel the quake, you might not. I didn't feel that tremor years ago and the drunk guy who did lived just across the river from me.
I’m guessing it was very deep.
If the US is split in half, the Mississipi would be the most likely place for it to happen.
However, there are plenty of BLUE states on both sides - at both coasts .. CA and NY.
Our chances of having one sector be conservative are pretty slim and none.
Did the earth move for you, too?

Fracking!!!
I’ve got liberal relatives over in Kalamazoo and I suspect they’ll blame fracking despite the fact that there is no fracking going on in Michigan.
The Earth is moving from the excess global warming.
From Detroit CBS affiliate-—
Officials with the United States Geological Survey said an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.2 and a depth of focus of 5.9 km was measured around 12:23 p.m. about nine miles southeast of Kalamazoo.
The strongest earthquake in Michigan history was a 4.6 magnitude in nearly the exact same location in August 1947.
And don’t forget that global warming.
And also, we should consider global warming.
The tremors here are so frequent that they are a given.
the last fair sized quake..north of here some 5o miles..in Napa CA was the last one I really paid close attention... to,
Felt it just south of 76th and Division.
Serenity Now!
Google searching michigan earthquake history is surprising.

Damage was heaviest in the area southeast of Kalamazoo at Athens, Bronson, Coldwater, Colon, Matteson Lake, Sherwood, and Union City. Chimneys were damaged, windows and plaster were broken, and brick cornices were downed. Also felt in Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Wisconsin, and Ontario, Canada.
I was a very young 1 year old at the time..and so dont remember anything..
Must be Bush’s fault, Fracking and definitely Republicans. Maybe we should blame the Koch brothers. Never ever blame mother nature
