As a long-time permit holder and regular carrier, that one is mind-boggling.
I’ve seen this alot in industry. Well, not leaving guns laying around, but employees that just don’t care.
It happens when managers fail to rally their employees... when employees don’t particularly like their manager... they just don’t give a crap.
I would like to think that our secret service agents are more professional than your average Joe, but its still human nature. I think they just don’t care anymore.
I casually wedge mine in my holster.
That was about the first lesson I got taught in firearms training. If you have to go poop while carrying concealed, put the gun in its holster in the crotch of your pants.

Everything went OK until she stood up to grab it and the Glock went off and spun around on the coat hook bump-firing the resetting trigger until half the magazine was expended. The pistol finally stovepipe jammed, ending her little Mexican Fiesta spinning fireworks show.
Nobody hurt, thank heavens.
