well the wife is back and doing a better job on the garden than i did.
I did discover a trick that could help others regarding celery - treat it like lettice. got three ‘harvests’ of celery off the same stalks. trim the outer stalks, leave the innermost to continue to grow. If it hadn’t gotten so darn hot so fast here in N. CA, I could have gotten 4 cuttings off the darn things.
That’s good to know. I haven’t grown any celery yet. We use about half a stalk/month always wind up freezing or dehydrating the leftovers, so it’s not a high volume for us.
Potatoes, corn, and beans high volume so those are first. As we gradually convert from buying fresh to raising fresh we are tackling the most frequent and/or most expensive first. So celery is not tops on the list.
That said, if I don’t have celery to put in Tuna Salad, Salmon Salad, Chicken Noodle soup, or Pot Roast, for get about it! It just isn’t the same without celery.
