He has been on the ship since 2011, in command since May 2013, so he is no newby. He fleeted up from XO, a common practice these days. In fact, unless command tours have increased greatly since I retired, he most likely was due to be relieved soon anyway. So whatever happened (and poor command climate could mean any number of things) it was serious enough that they didn’t just let him slip quietly out the door.

Good to think he was not on the ship when it did all those righteous missile shoots back when. It was a ground breaking platform for missile defense testing. The ship and crew have a lot to be proud of.
