Here’s something for the investors in the ping list!
Unless your company is Xiaomi, Apple’s huge advantage in China is that you get timely updates to the phone operating system, since Apple controls the update process, not the cellphone carrier. As such, most iPhone 6 and 6+ models sold are already updated to iOS 8.3, and the majority of iPhone 5, 5S and 5C models are also updated to the iOS 8.3.
I updated to iOS 8.3 on my iPad about a week ago. The iOS devices do upgrade to the relatively recent updates ... with the two most recent major update (iOS 7 and 8) covering practically all the devices. This makes it a lot easier on the developers who make all this good software.
We should be boycotting this gay-run, gaystapo, extortionist company, not extolling its “virtues”.
I remember when Microsoft gave Apple a loan to keep them viable.

That was Microsoft settling a legal action with Apple. Although the total amount is somewhat clouded ... the settlement that Microsoft paid to Apple might have been around ONE BILLION DOLLARS!

Here are some backstory that recasts the myth in a different light:
•Microsoft’s $150 stock investment was the result of a settlement of a lawsuit. In fact, the investment was just an initial payment for other “substantial balancing payments” that would be spread out over then next few years, then Apple CFO Fred Anderson said at the time.
The exact amount of the settlement is still unknown as far as I am aware. I’ve seen estimates from $500 million to more than $1 billion.
•The two companies would cross-license all their existing patents, and any new patents that would become available during the next five years.
•That Apple would make Internet Explorer the default browser for the Mac. If this seems strange, then understand that it meant that Microsoft would support IE for the next 5 years, during a time when IE was the primary browser on the market and when sites were designed specifically to support it.
What was this legal action that gave Apple so much leverage over Redmond? It was a strange one: the Apple Computer v. San Francisco Canyon Co. lawsuit.

I hear that Steve Jobs laid out a ten-year plan which Apple is still be working on. Jobs lives even after he is dead ... :-) ...
I think Apple’s success is mostly attributable to people getting fed up with the modern trend of producing cheap junk that breaks within the first year of use. An engineer I used to work with used to say, “when are people going to finally get tired of buying all this cheap made-in-China junk?”
I have my issues with Apple software and online service quality, but their hardware is top-notch. And yes, I know that the Apple products are made in China, but where it’s made isn’t the point. The point is, the trend over the last 20 years has been to sacrifice quality and long-term reliability for cost. I sometimes see electronics whose reliability could be increased tenfold with a very modest increase in cost.
I think Apple bucks these trends, particularly with their mobile products. What you see is that they are fulfilling pent-up demand from consumers who are hungry for something that isn’t a piece of junk. I hope other companies learn from this.
Ironic that we have not heard calls to break up the Apple monopoly from the Elizabeth Warren's of the world.
Not at all ... Apple makes excellent products and there are many customers that appreciate their products and excellent customer service. We’ve got over 700 Freepers who are on the Apple ping list, so we’ve got a whole lot of Apple users here on Free Republic ... :-) ...

Just because they make excellent products, and have excellent customer service, and have one of the highest ratings for customer satisfaction in the industry, and have a whole lot of people buying their products ... doesn’t mean they’re a monopoly ... :-) ...
As long as Apple keeps making the best products around, I’ll keep buying them ... :-) ...

That’s because not ever vendor puts its own stupid skin and hacks on top of the OS like Android... So, you will never see Android updates reliably and regularly released because every damn vendor has to recompile, test etc their code, and guess what? They aren’t software companies so they don’t waste their time, they just focus on wedging their skin on the latest version for their next phone... no money to be made trying to backport it to their older devices.

Xiaomi is copying Apple's business model on this. . . but not paying for the Intellectual Property they are using in their phones and tablets which gives them a competitive pricing edge on their competition who does pay for the proper licensing of the components and software in their phones and tablets. At least Xiaomi is doing ONE thing right. . . but their CEO emulates Steve Jobs in how he dresses when he gives product announcements.
Are you also going to boycott Microsoft, Google (Android), Facebook, HP, Twitter, Yelp, Intel, Walmart, NASCAR, the NBA, Macy's, and the CEO's of 40 other high tech companies who ALSO signed the letter opposing the Restoration of Religious Freedom Act in Indiana that Apple's CEO signed. It was just Apple that the news media used as a big name in the headlines.
Those highlighted in bold have been backing the homosexual legislative agenda for at least ten years. Apple has not, only joining the movement in the recent past. Where were YOU in condemning their substantial financial support of the lobbying for the passage of such laws then?
