In a nut shell, several weeks ago some “yout” named Freddie Grey was taken into custody by the Baltimore City police in a high crime, high drug area of town, and according to what story you read or believe, he (a “nice” boy BTW, with only a little bit of a criminal record) ran after merely making eye contact with some cops who chased him down just for acting “suspicious” (or for just being Black /s) and they arrested him and put him in a paddy wagon, or alternatively he was in the middle of a drug deal when upon seeing the cops, ran….

But whatever happened, he seemed fine when taken into custody but ended up with a severed spine, paralyzed from the neck down, unable to breathe and ended up a few hours after his arrest at Shock Trauma and died a week later – brain dead – lack of oxygen.

The police have admitted to “making some mistakes” like not belting him in the police van and not calling for medical help earlier when it was obvious something was medically wrong. Did he get bounced around the police van, accidentally or on purpose, hitting his head and breaking his neck? Did the police get a wee bit aggressive in dealing with him (and FWIU, he wasn’t armed and no drugs were found on him), or did at least one of the other arrestees who the police picked up on their way to taking Freddie to jail, rough “poor” Freddie up? Who knows?

There have or had been up till now, some peaceful marches and demonstrations, but of course the professional agitators have shown up. Now there are “protesters” blocking traffic all around downtown Baltimore, outside of Camden Yards baseball stadium where the Orioles are trying to beat the Red Sox (go O’s), some are just milling around but some have now started breaking store windows, attacking people in cars, trying to burn cars, you know “peacefully protesting” and stuff.

The backstory is kind of ambiguous; Hot Air seems to have the sketchy details presented as well as anyone.

The police arrested the suspect, after the suspect decided not to associate with them. He was charged with having a 'swithcblade' and put in a 'crab' like position by the police. The police loaded up the perp, while he was in physical distress into the paddy wagon, and taken to jail.
