Bronies can be summed up in one sentence: theyre grown-ass men who love a little girls cartoon show about the adventures of a group of magical ponies.
Its Easter weekend, and Im in an airport hotel in San Francisco attending the second annual Bay Area Brony Spectacular Convention, aka BABSCON. I have absolutely no idea what to expect. I just really want to see this scene for myself. I gotta know: What the hell have Bronies found in My Little Pony that the rest of us dudes missed?

Growing up, a lot of my friends were geeks, nerds, gamers - the kinds of guys who purchase ninja stars. I played D&D with miniature metal figurines. I played table-top games that friends invented. I may not be one, but I know geeks when I see them. Bronies are, for the most part, a deep geek culture. Yet, a very different sort of geek than Ive ever known.
Leave it to geeks to figure out a way to become better men by embracing the feminine. Theyve hacked the code of masculinity. And now theyre rewriting it. Bronies are the flip-side of geek culture, the opposite of the ugly sexism often on display. While some gamers feel threatened by women entering their space, Bronies are inspired by femininity. Theyre using a little girl cartoon show to learn how to build communities together. Theyre good people just trying to get by, and loving ponies seems to help
Bronies can be summed up in one word: gay.
Sick.
Pony Ping!
I’m stupider for having read part of that. Thanks.

I think most Bronies do it just to be weird. As geek culture has taken over pop culture it’s harder and harder to be an outlier, and some people have a large drive to be different. Teen to adult male watching a cartoon target marketed at 6 year old girls, that’s different.
Not a Bronie, but I do have a 8-year-old girl who loves it, so I have to watch it at times.
It's not bad, and kind of funny, in an 8-year-old-girl-would-love-it kind of way.
I am completely shocked, amazed, and bewildered.
I really thought Playboy had gone out of business a long time ago.
Oh and the cartoon erotic nonsense is also nuts.
I’ve been to several brony events including a Season 5 Premier party a few weeks ago. Rather weird and extremely geeky but not sick or perverted. Just a bunch of nerds having fun
Adult men who worship a show aimed at 6 year old girls, yeah thats pretty weird and disgusting
This is all BS. It’s about sex.
I’ve got an acquaintance on one of my writer’s blogs who write MLP fan fic porn. She makes more money than I ever will.
IMHO, it’s an outlet for pedophilia.
Bronyism is Masculine Abandonment Level 11.
...and Bruce Jenner just got really carried away.
Bronies.Just remember the pics of Pajama Boy-same type of arrested development fool.
