Feral cats are invasive species. They exterminate the indigenous wildlife.

Australia has lost 29 species to them since 1788.

Why do cat-lovers want to drive native species to extinction?

If you have a cat, keep it inside.

Oh, you favor picking the winners and losers is nature? You sound like a progressive to me. There are some poor tadpoles out in California farm country you could cry for too.

My cats can’t go out where I live now but I let my cats go out when I can. Cats like to bask in the sun, climb trees, roll in the grass, Chase bugs. Making a cat stay inside all their life I believe is a less quality life for a cat.

I read an article that said one feral cat kills 1000 animals a year, and doesn’t do it to eat, for the most part. I hate the damn things.

I have no problem with hunting invasive species.

Amen! I keep my 2 catz inside and safe. They don't go out to terrorize the neighbors as ferals.

And untagged animals ARE ferals.

We had cats on our ranch for mice control but when they started to become too numerous we shot some of them and hauled them off. We kept the cat population a down.

Feral cats are invasive species.

So are humans.

Hardly a feral cat round this locale.. Took me a few years to catch and fix em.. Some I housed. A couple even adopted out to others.

Birds still poop on my walk tho. Damn birds.

I hear ya tho. We had a pile of siamese for awhile in our house. They loved turkey and chicken. All they ever hunted was a warm spot on the carpet or bed.

If some local government announces that there is a feral cat problem and they are going to cull that population, then fine, I know that’s done sometimes and I don’t have a problem with it.

But I am not going to take it upon myself to start exterminating cats. I don’t know which one may be a pet, and I don’t really want to kill them unless I have absolutely no other choice.

It doesn’t make me feel good to kill animals. I do think cat owners should keep their cats inside though.

I agree, feral cats are in our neighborhood and are messy, noisy and a nuisance. If you have a cat, please control them.

First of all, it’s unclear that the cat was feral. Secondly, as someone who feeds 2 feral cats, the ASPCA traps them, neuters/spays them and releases them to homeowners to feed and shelter them. That is the way to go - not horribly killing one. By a vet!

I would think you should be more concerned with what is happening with the Pythons and the Nile Monitor Lizards that are decimating wildlife here in America and let the Australians worry about their pussy problem themselves.

My personal view is, an outdoor cat is an abandoned cat and is fair game no matter how you want to kill it within local/legal means.

This vet deserves a medal.

Hey, cat people. Your cats are a major non-native invasive species, are responsible for the collapse of song bird populations (an subsequent increases in insect-borne diseases, especially arboviruses) everywhere they’ve been introduced, they CAUSE asthma (look it up) they carry a disturbing variety of diseases they can and do pass to humans: bartonella, yersinia, lyme, rabies, cryptosporidium and many more.

I love cats - I can never eat a whole one though.
I care for people more.

Keep your cats inside.
