Kristen Lindsey, 31, of Brenham posted a photo holding up what she described as a dead feral tomcat shot in Austin County, but there are reports since that it was a neighborhood family pet named Tiger.
...
The photo has since been removed and her Facebook account canceled, although copies have widely circulated on the Internet. Her original post with the photo read: "My first bow kill, lol. The only good feral tomcat is one with an arrow through it's head! Vet of the year award ... Gladly accepted," KWTX-TV reported.
Austin County Sheriff Jack Brandes said deputies were investigating the incident and would be talking with prosecutors about the possibility of charges.
"This kind of stuff shouldn't happen in our society," Brandes said. "It's a very sad thing. Hopefully we will get to the bottom of it and get the truth, 100 percent truth, and get it to the DA and put it in his hands if it needs to go any further."
Lindsey planned to meet with authorities next week, accompanied by an attorney, Houston TV station KTRK reported.

That’s the most practical way to deal with the problem.
Troubling how PC our nation has become, wussifed.
You can say what you like.
Northern New Mexico and 47,000 acres is different than some place in PA.
Yes, we would live trap but half the time we got skunks.
The coyotes took care of some of the cats.
It was easier letting the coyotes take care of them and shoot the rest. There weren’t that many cats, anyway.
We weren’t about to take them to a clinic and bring them home for a coyote to kill.
And periodically we shot wild dogs who were killing and running calves to death.
I call BS on your lack of knowledge of life on a ranch in northern New Mexico.
Thanks for your common sense.
I call it BS that you live and operate a 47,000 acre range. You tend to make things up a lot here.
I no longer live on that 47,000 acre ranch. Not “range”.
You are ignorant of life on a ranch.
City slickers, and their ilk, sure know how to live life on the farm or ranch.
They know nothing.
Pay the fools no mind.
Yeah, isn’t it funny how people want to tell you what you’re allowed to do on your own property?
If my dogs got loose and we’re on your property, I would hope that you’d try to contact me via the phone numbers on their collars. But, if for whatever reason you needed to shoot them I would be very upset. I have invested a lot of time and money training my dogs and I love them, but I am reasonable enough to know that they were on YOUR property and you have a right to do with your property as you see fit.
You’re right. Know it all’s become tiresome.
Calling her our over claims of shooting feral cats?
Seesh, get a life.
It’s what ranchers and farmers do.
I’m just calling BS on all the laplata made up stories over the years.
You didn’t say anything when I discussed when I was living in Tibet or racing cars at Indy or when the Mexican Drug Cartels hunted me or when I navigated my 200 foot yacht through a hurricane or the hundreds of other things I’ve done.
Shooting a few cats is trivial.
i feel the same way, anybody can make a mistake, dog gets loose and doesn't try to bite/attack me/kids/animals and i'll do my best to get it back to the rightful owner, specially if i've seen it before or know who owns it
i feel the same way, anybody can make a mistake, dog gets loose and doesn't try to bite/attack me/kids/animals and i'll do my best to get it back to the rightful owner, specially if i've seen it before or know who owns it if it is an ongoing thing i might be inclined to call animal control or catch it and give it to somebody on a farm that might appreciate it
if it takes an aggressive posture, well, all bets are off...
I heard that dogs eat 3-4 little kids a year. I hate them dogs.
You posted here that you lived in NYC and were struggling a couple of years ago.
You have me mixed up with someone else. I have never said any such thing or anything even close to anything like that.
I don’t know what your problem is. You do have a problem, though.
Seriously, you’ve got me mixed up with someone else.
My 2 cats are indoors-only. They don't go outside so that some sicko like her could hurt them. And I have taken at least 42 cats off the street as kittens and either found them good homes (2 ended up as my own beloved pets) or got them into non-kill shelters. If that sick b___h came anywhere near my cats, she would be very sorry.
