A lot of my Italian American brethren on Staten Island get tattoos. But they are blue collar, either plumbing, construction, electrician etc. Those who aspire for white collar jobs, like I did, don’t have them.
I finally got a tattoo of a rose with my deceased father’s and two deceased uncle’s names on my upper arm when I was 35. Spock was right. “After a time, you may find that having is not so pleasing a thing after all as wanting”
That’s not what I’m talking about. It’s acceptable to have tattoos on your arms, chest and other areas that are normally covered by clothing in the workplace. But people getting tats on their hands, necks and faces, that’s just retarded.
In the 70s I learned motorcycle repair and got a job in a local bike shop. Most guys had at least some tattoos. I could not find one I liked enough to permanently mar my skin. I seriously looked for more than a decade. By the time I found ones I wouldn't mind having, I didn't want one anymore.
Cest la vie.
It’s not Biblical.
