According to a 2014 survey by the Office of Personnel Management, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) was ranked by its employees as the worst place to work among the governments 37 large departments or agencies, Congress was told Thursday.
The department, which includes agencies such as Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Patrol (CBP), received an index score of 48 on global satisfaction in 2014, compared to a score of 62 in 2010. Last years score marks the lowest ranking of any government department that year.

One day it was non-existent....the next day, they had thousands of open billets. They basically hired up cops from around the nation, without much management expertise and background on a national organization like this. These people walked in and took up GS-13/14 slots....within a year a fair number got promoted, and more ‘newbies’ were hired down the line. Rather than finding logical thinking or process-management....these are people with their own agenda....hiring buddies and bringing them to DC. Maybe in fifty years, it’ll work itself out, but presently, you’d have to be crazy to stick around for twenty-odd years and do some career within DHS.
I saw a Border Patrol agent - dressed in military-style uniform/gear at a Lenny’s sub shop in Ocean Springs MS last week. Looked to be Hispanic and I couldn’t figure out why he would be hanging out there unless ICE uses them to hunt down illegals that have already made it to comparative safety to ensure they get briefed on all the ways to tap into tax-payer-provided resources....
