"Our agents and crime scene technicians arrived shortly after the incident took place," said SLED Chief Mark Keel."There were inconsistencies including what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds in Mr. Scott's back. We believed early on that there was something not right about what happened in that encounter. The cell phone video shot by a bystander confirmed our initial suspicions."..."I appreciate that Feidin Santana was worried about his safety and whether he could trust the police after what he saw and captured on his cell phone. I'm grateful he decided not to erase the video. We are eager to discuss the incident with him,"Keel said."We have interviewed Michael Slager, the other officers and others who may have some knowledge of the this incident," Keel said."We will pursue this case until we are confident we have developed as much factual information and evidence as possible to give to prosecutors. We have worked throughout this case with Solicitor Wilson and will continued to do so until the matter is resolved."
Slager was arrested and charged by SLED with murder following an interview Monday afternoon at his then-attorney's office. Slager remains in the Charleston County Detention Center.

But it is really amazing that this cop would act and talk a lie after things have settled down, and knowing he was being filmed (iirc he looks at the camera a few times). And it would seem that the other cops are giving him a chance to come clean it seems. And not even based on the video - as the video didn't come out until a day or two later iirc. So there may be other witnesses (such as the other cops there immediately after the shooting).
Or - perhaps the video isn't has clear cut as it seems to be? Now we have seen photos and witnesses saying that the deceased was on top of the cop on the ground. That adds up to more than just resisting arrest and a “tussle” imho.
And the object the cop drops seems to be too small for a taser.
And if he did plant the evidence, why does he then pick it up and put it on his belt or in a pocket before the investigators get there? I would think if he was planting the taser he would leave it there and say “Yep - and there's the taser he took from me, right by his body - see!?”
Oh, to long for the simple days when video wasn't everywhere, and the rare rogue cop could just say “I was in fear for the safety of others”, plant the gun and no one would be the wiser. /sarcasm
I’d just like to read his statement and why he felt justified. I’m confident Slager didn’t go out that morning intent on killing a black guy. I really have no idea what was going through his head when he started firing. Be different if this were a felony stop involving suspected armed robbers etc. This was a taillight stop and he ran because he had a pay-up warrant.
I still like to know what he dropped next to Scott. It was such a nonchalant drop. Almost as if he just opened his hand and let go of the object.
If ya ever see his statement posted, ping me.
Are You Really That Stupid?
Go ahead and run from a cop after being arrested. You deserve what happens with your mouth.
Okay. I’ll try to remember to do that. The statement might be interesting. I don’t know that where the taser was dropped will be very relevant. Police have been advised to reload and holster firearms after using them. Don’t know whether or not he was trained to do that with a taser, and I’m not familiar with taser training for police.
You will make a good slave.
