I’d like to know the name of the book too. I actually have a copy of The Final Countdown novelization that I found by chance on the $.50 rack at a used bookstore years ago. It includes the “we have a lot to talk about” conversation Lasky has with the “Tidemans” after he gets into the limo at the end.

As to the Axis of Time books by Birmingham, the really good one in the series was the 2nd one. Which was heavily edited (some suspect reworked or even ghostwritten) by Baen’s Eric Flint (of the very cool 1632 series).

Birmingham’s an Aussie, the whole USS Hillary Clinton thing was a joke that he didnt anticipate would fall so flat with his US readers. I was active on his “Cheeseburger” something or other site for a while after the first book came out. A bunch of us warned him about advancing the tech way too fast, but he didn’t listen and the third book really sucked, unfortunately.
