When I was around 21, I mentioned to my girl friend that I thought athletic tape was extremely useful.

A month or two later, we were driving another friend to the Asheville, NC airport. We were on the Blue Ridge Parkway when my engine began to overheat. As luck would have it, we were near the only house near by for miles.

I had several rolls of athletic tape and taped up the radiator hose where it was leaking, refilled the radiator and drove the short distance to the airport.

We made it the roughly 25 miles home tho it was beginning to overheat again. I got a new hose the next day.

My girlfriend then reminded me that I had told her about the tape before.

Duck tape is really useful for emergency or short term use. It is not for long term use at all.

Duck duct tape

Its original purpose was for sealing together sections of a/c ducting - hence, 'duct' tape.

However, there actually is a brand called Duck Tape.

Back in the day, I used regular electrical tape for the same reason and it lasted for months. ;~))
