Colorado wildlife officials say they believe someone dumped four to five pet goldfish in a Boulder lake about two years ago, and they have now multiplied to over 3,000 to 4,000 fish.

A couple of breeding piranha tossed in will clean up that goldfish problem in no time.
Toss in a few snakeheads and problem will be solved.
And here I thought we were the only ones who find it impossible to keep goldfish alive.
Goldfish are a species of carp, and as such, have similar predatory behavior in the presence on non-carp species. They aggressively compete for the available food, and their presence drives out other native species.
Invasive species are a problem everywhere, not just in Colorado, and it takes a while to establish a new equilibrium in the ecosystem that has been disturbed. Just look at the various invasive species that have escaped into the wild in the Florida Everglades, even the presence of alligators cannot keep them under control. Ball Pythons will even attack and consume young alligators. No match, though, for an adult bull alligator.
I remember seeing a horror movie about something like this, but I can’t remember the name.

I had an acquaintance who tossed some Tiger Fish in the Koi ponds at U of Cal Berkeley years ago. They no longer had a Koi problem... Lol

Clearly the only thing that would bring this woman happiness is raining bureaucracy down on others. Say kid, you want a goldfish? Too bad!!!!
