As far as food preparation goes it looks totally disgusting and there are elements of danger within these makeshift "kitchens" Open flames in an enclosed building - propane tanks not being stored properly. On the whole the pics are a great capture of what these people do themselves on the American Dime including foodstamps.

I grew up in the Detroit area (St. Clair Shores) in the 1970s and even then there was a big Lebanese population in Dearborn. And Hamtramck was 90% Polish.
The Poles have left Hamtramck, but the Lebanese have greatly increased in Dearbornistan.
