Lennon first wife seemed pretty normal compared to what came later. I think Lennon was abuse to her - seemed like he was mad at the world and took it out on her.

John Lennon had some kind of mental derangement.
Leaving the mother of his child for Yoko Ono is exhibit A.

You never heard of Julian Lennon? He had a couple of hits in the 80's. Quite frankly he looks a lot like his Dad and I think his singing voice sounds a lot like his Dad. I've seen him interviewed about his Father and he doesn't have a whole lot of nice things to really say about him. Sounds like John was abusive to Julian and his mother Cynthia.

John was abusive to nearly everyone. I loved his early music, but that’s about it.

I definitely knew Julian...maybe I just forgot about the other wife or was surprised how much Julian didn’t look like Yoko.

“I loved his early music, but thats about it.”
His early music? McCartney was the brain of that outfit.
What one must do is to compare their respective careers after the Beatles broke up.
McCartney thrived while Lennon’s career was downhill forever.
Their collaborations was nothing more than McCartney writing a song then Lennon would say, “Oh, yeah! That’s good!” That is how he got his name on some of McCartney’s songs.

Come Together, Norwegian Wood, You've Got to Hide Your Love Away, Tomorrow Never Knows, Help, Strawberry Fields Forever, and many more classics were primarily written by Lennon. As for his career nosediving after the Beatles, well, Yoko.

I’ve always heard that for decades after John’s death, Yoko and her son Sean found ways to legally block Julian from receiving any portion of John’s estate or finances. This only recently changed in the last ten years.
On April 8th, Julian will be 51 years old, and most likely will never become a father, by his own choice.

That is simply not true. While John sort of stepped away from the entertainment world in the mid 70's after Sean was born (I guess he was making up for the fact he was such a lousy dad to Julian), he had many hits in the early 70's and upon his return to the music industry in 1980 his double fantasy album had a bunch of hits on it. Sadly, his music legacy was cut short after that. As for the Beatles, it has been generally understood that the songs John wrote, he sang and the songs Paul wrote he sang. Going by that, John penned quite a few hits for the Beatles also. Now there were some like "I want to hold your hand" that were sung by both so who knows which one wrote it. It does sound like a McCartney type of song though. John penned my favorite Beatles song ever "In My Life"...

John was not physically or verbally abusive to Cynthia or :Julian. He was young, immature and uncaring. He abandoned them but later repented. His devotion to his son Sean by Yoko was born from his desire to do better as a father. But for Julian it was too late, he had already let his hurt turn to an anger that would not allow his father to enter his life. The song “Hey Jude” was written for Julian; “take a sad song and make it better”.
John’s story is a story that millions and millions of us share. He was traumatized as a young boy but also loved and fawned over. He was an adorable boy but as a teen he became very angry and sought escape. Cynthia was an average girl from the town and she was too dull for John’s gifts and genius. She was a good person though. But he should never have married her; it was a mistake but he followed the customs of his time and married her to cover her pregnancy.
John’s character development is a story that so many children of divorce share. This story was presented in the film “Nowhere Boy”:
http://www.amazon.com/Nowhere-Boy-Aaron-Johnson/dp/B0036TGT5M
It is an excellent film starring Kristin Scott Thomas as his Aunt Mimi. It should be viewed by all parents who are headed for divorce so that they can better understand how bringing their parental conflict into the lives of their children can mess them up for life.
Just before he died. John had told his English family including his aunts, uncles, sisters and all that he was “coming back”. After raising Sean he grew to understand the importance of family. There was also confirmation from people close to him that he had turned to Christ. But he shot and killed leaving all us deprived of witnessing him become a real man.
