I hate to be the one to break the news. But the woman who gave life to the talented actor, who said she emptied her retirement savings account so her only child would grow into a star, director, producer and playwright, claims she’s down on her luck.
Hattie Crawford Fishburne, 80, told me that, unable to pay the rent for several months, she’s received written notice informing her she’ll be evicted from her Los Angeles apartment Tuesday.
And she said she can’t reach her wealthy son, with whom she last spoke more than a year ago when his father died.
“He’s gone Hollywood!” Hattie Fishburne told me.
“For 20 years, I funded my son’s career,’’ she said. “He promised me he would take care of me. He promised me a house, a golden retriever, a calico cat. To this day, I have not got a Christmas present or a ‘Thank you, Mama’ present. He hasn’t given me a penny.
“I’m so hurt and disappointed.”

If he is neglecting her that is really disgraceful I agree. But it was a strange piece and I’m not sure what to think. She’s really quite elderly, someone should be looking out for her. And he’s got kids, so there’s a d-i-l or two floating around, not to mention the kids themselves who are her grandchildren, if the one girl is old enough to be in porno movies she’s old enough to check up on granny.

It doesn’t matter what kind of mom she was. Keeping her off the street is what a son is obligated to do.
She's still his Mom and she is getting up there in years - not to mention that he has the means to take care of her w/o going broke or even needing to have much personal contact. He's a turd.
sorry I didn’t clarify that it was just my opinion.
No need, something is up with this lady. It could be a situation as you describe or who knows. Her son needs to do a check in with mom, that’s for sure.
