Cristie Kerr ran off four straight birdies on the back nine and closed with a 7-under 65 to win the Kia Classic on Sunday for her first LPGA Tour title in nearly two years.

Starting the final round three shots behind, Kerr was in a three-way tie for the lead at Aviara Golf Club when she pulled away from Mirim Lee and 17-year-old Lydia Ko. Her fourth straight birdie was on the 16th hole when she drove the green and two-putted from 20 feet.

We are proud to report FReeper Mascot's 17th career win on the LPGA, besting that whippersnapper Lydia Ko with a seven-under par 64 on the final day of the KIA Classic Golf Tournament. Congratualtions, Cristie!

As a bit of 19th hole housecleaning, we are trying to tighten up the golf Ping List. Please, if you can either post a reply on this thread or FRemail me so we can get an idea of the current participation. Thank you.

Kerr wanted to win for her caddy who had lost his father the week before. Plus it was her first win since the birth of her son; her last was in 2013. Had enough of Koreans dominating the woman’s tour. They’re no better than the Americans, except in the ability to control their emotions and focus when the pressure is on. Kerr was super focused & determined this week, particularly on Sunday. It was the Koreans who melted at the end this time, not her.

We've added you to the Golf Ping list. Baynative also uses a Golf Ping list in tandem with this one. When I add a member, I put them at the front of the distribution list, so if you look at my FR homepage, about half way down you will see the Golf Ping list, with your name in the front of the line. That way, we can have an idea of how long people have been part of the group.
Welcome aboard, Z
