This year, 2015, Passover and Good Friday fall on the same date, Friday April 3rd. It has happened before.
Any thoughts on the religious significance of this at this point in time?...........Israel-US relations are at the worst point that they have ever been, with this anti-semite in the White House.............
Nicodemus and Joseph of Arimathea hurriedly asked Pilot to have posession of Jesus’ body to prepare it for burial before the sunset of that day, as the next day was ‘an High Day’ John 19:31, according to custom. He allowed them to take the body. So I think that their hurried preparations may have been ‘just in time’ to fulfill the obligation.
Jesus and His disciples had the Passover seder the night before the crucifixion.
John 19:31
The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.
[Lets go ahead and post the related verses to this type of event]
Thanks for the Scripture references.
I am a psalmist/singer-songwriter. The Holy Spirit has given me melodies and lyrics to many of those verses.
Christ is coming. The time is drawing near! We will know the season, but only the Father knows the day and hour.
I know you're all dogmatic that "the two testaments" make up a single "holy bible," but it's so frustrating to me.
PS: I notice that the Patriarch of the Assyrian Church died yesterday. Why haven't our Catholic/Orthodox contingent mentioned this?
What 'something'?.................
Is that so? Do tell, how is it we gentiles (or Jews) can receive forgiveness of our sins without the offering? Have you also missed the signs before the destruction of the temple in 70AD? (The lamps going out, the doors opening on their own, etc.)
To you I would say: check out Tehillim Chapter 22, Yeshayahu 53, 2 Shmuel 7 - then read the 4 books known as the Gospels, Matthew-Mark-Luke-John. (Psalm 22, Isaiah 53, 2 Samuel 7)
(It became pretty clear to me.)
And this is prior to the rebuilding of the 3rd temple?
Good Christians and Jews need to hang together or we will surely hang separately.
Amen!...............
