It does no such thing - especially when the author resorts to question begging at the end of the piece. He completely ignores the nature of inter- and intraspecific competition and the environmental forcing that those factors contribute. And while he references the parsimony of nature, he ignores the the fundamental concept behind it: biological systems will act and react based on the abiotic conditions in which they reside.
