some kid once told me that saying black coffee was racist.
I wonder what are you supposed to say, African-American coffee???
In the unit on brakes in a car repair class, we learned about ‘master’ and ‘slave’ cylinders.
The instructor, a friend of mine, later told me he wondered how those words would go over.
But the class was full of people who wanted to learn, and/or get a job. PC was not on their mind.
No problem.
Uncreamed coffee. I’m serious.
Don’t tell him about black holes.
We all just about died.
Of course, he was Black, so it was "acceptable".
I wonder what they call blacks in England and France. 'African Brits'? 'Afri-French'?
I forget which news anchor was talking about the murders in France a few weeks ago. The “African American” = black is so ingrained in their heads that they were calling the black thugs that were murdering the jews “African American” islamic immigrants.
There is one story I love recalling every chance I get. When I was attending college in Fresno we had an African who was a naturalized citizen who ran for president of the African American Student Club. Problem was, he was a white African, born and raised on African soil. His family had been in SA for generations while the black students could not even find Africa on a map.
So, maybe we will have to start ordering African American coffee. Or rewrite Henry Ford’s quip, “You can have it in any color you like as long as it’s African American.”
We should show them the Star Trek original series episode where Lt. Uhura is complemented as a beautiful negress. Someone remarks that negress is inappropriate / no longer used. She replies that she is fine with the complement, because it is a compliment - not an insult.
He was filming a Youtube Video with Jerry Seinfeld and they stopped at a Coffee Shop. Jerry guilt-ed him into trying it and Jay hated it.
I guess that means that Jay won't be hanging out at Starbucks discussing Race with the Pierced Tattooed Help, making him a Racist of course.
