Yes. You guys are weird
There are snake breeders who are not only millionaires, they have lines of snake morphs named after them.
Not only are they rich and successful, they are immortalized by their incredible genius in cracking the codes of serpentine genetics.
They’re rock stars.
If Mendel had worked with Ball Pythons instead of peas, the science of genetics would be light years ahead of it what it was.
Some who raise snakes are developing miracle cures for the diseases which have plagued mankind forever.
Weird?
No.
True individualists.
Pioneers, even.
I admire people who have the guts to desert the safety of the herd.
And I have found that those who call snake owners ‘weird’ are exhibiting something usually called ‘ignorance’.
But, since we are painting with a broad brush today, let me say this. I find that those who think snake owners are weird are usually unstable and thus should not be allowed to own weapons or have children.
Just saying.
I’d rather be weird than normal... normal people are boring.
Concerning the rat bite... Rats carry well over 100 communicable diseases we can get. As someone that is weird (not a freaking pansy that is scared of snakes) I feed frozen thawed to almost all of my snakes. I’ve have a few that refuse F/T and will only eat live. Been working with these animals for a few years now and every one is different. Some don’t care others... do.
What absolutely blows my mind is how many “experts” there are on the net that have never owned or cared for a snake. Hell, most have never even held one. Same for the internet commandos that know all about rats.
