Do you understand what I have done for you? he asked them. 13 You call me Teacher and Lord, and rightly so, for that is what I am. 14 Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one anothers feet. 15 I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. 16 Very truly I tell you, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. 17 Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.
John: 13
My mother said I missed my calling. I should have been a TV preacher! (and started a ministry in California 30 some years ago)
I love the proliferation of all theses “reality” preacher family shows.
Absolutely pathetic.
It is my humble opinion that “taking the Lords name in vain” does not mean saying GD.
I much more thing it refers to things like this, people doing things in Gods name, that have nothing to do with God. If you look in the Bible, it was a very heavy thing to say “Thus Sayeth the Lord”. There is something very, very dangerous about invoking the ultimate authority for your own selfish purposes.
Mr. Dollar, I would strongly urge you to be sure of what you attribute to the almighty.
Matthew 19:16-26
19:16 And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?
19:17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.
19:18 He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,
19:19 Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
19:20 The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet?
19:21 Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.
19:22 But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.
19:23 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven.
19:24 And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
19:25 When his disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved?
19:26 But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.
Perhaps he should consider taking up his ‘cross’ and keep flying that raggedy ole G3.
Guys like this do indescribable damage to the efforts of others who are sincerely trying to spread the Gospel to the four corners of the globe.
Perfect name for this charlatan you have to admit.
Some specific comments on the likes of Dollar:
For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple. Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.
